Children of the Nations

Children of the Nations (COTN) is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising children out of poverty and hopelessness so they can become leaders who transform their nations.  Founded in Kitsap County in 1995, we currently provide care to orphaned and destitute children in Sierra Leone, Malawi, Uganda, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti.  By partnering with local people, we establish Children’s Homes (for orphans) and Village Partnership Programs (to benefit orphans and children living with destitute families or caregivers who cannot properly provide for them).  The programs and services we provide include education, nutrition, medical care, and community development initiatives such as agriculture, clean water projects, skills training, and more.  COTN believes true, lasting, and meaningful change to a nation beings with children, so they are the mission.  COTN stands apart from other organizations in our goal not to just provide relief, but rather to empower nationals to a life of self-sustainability.

Kitsap Regional Library

The Poulsbo community has had a library in one form or another since the early 1900s. The City of Poulsbo operated a city library until the mid-1980s, when the city voted to annex into the Kitsap Regional Library district. In 1998, voters in North Kitsap approved a bond to expand and remodel the Poulsbo branch library, and the new building opened in 2001. Poulsbo is one of the busiest branches in the system, used by city residents as well as many patrons from other Kitsap communities who find it conveniently located.
